I use the term "blog" very loosely here as this page won't really be a true blog as much as a place for me to share my periodic thoughts on the subject of vintage Halloween or anything else that relates. Sometimes there will be links, pictures, whatever comes to mind. Sometimes it will be a place for me to complain or rave about something exciting! So be sure to check back often and read up. :) |

Wednesday — October 6th, 2010 REPRO ALERT: I was recently browsing through an antique mall near where I live when discovered a batch of these Halloween Party Books. I wanted to spread the word to other collectors that this item which was originally published by Whitman in the 1936, is now being reproduced (starting in 2010) by Golden Books. The inside pages are nearly identical. Seasoned collectors will easily spot the repros due to their high-gloss covers and UPC codes on the back cover. If you are a novice collector, and see this item for sale on eBay or any other website, ask questions and make sure the seller has clear detailed pictures. Originals should have a matte surface and be slightly larger than the repros. |

Thursday — September 30th, 2010 HALLOWEEN AND VINE: Last weekend I attended the 2010 Halloween and Vine folk art show. It was a really wonderful experience this year! The art was amazing and I enjoyed catching up with all my Halloween friends and fellow collectors. The highlight of the show for me was Matthew Kirscht’s artwork. His line of die cuts, lanterns, nut cups and decorations is amazingly good!!! I was thrilled with everything I purchased from Matthew. Be sure to check out his website Shiverbones.com. On another note, I currently have a hard-to-find 1950s Beistle Cat/Moon die cut listed for sale on eBay. Please be sure to take a look at it. Click here or on the picture below to view the auction. Thanks and Happy October 1st! |
